Why are sequences being queued but not starting?

Sequences are created and queued but do not start even though there are available Task Runners.

When this happens it suggests that the Gateway is unable to process the incoming requests, this could be because the Gateway agent is offline or if the Gateway console is "locked" by selected text.

Gateway agent is offline

To check the status of the Gateway agent:

  • Login to your tenant if you are not already logged in.
  • Browse to the Status page
  • Check if the Gateway agent is online or offline
  • If the Gateway agent is offline then restart the Gateway VM and the Gateway agent will start automatically after the VM reboots.

Gateway console is "locked" by selected text

If the Gateway is online and sequences are being queued then it is likely that text in the Gateway console has been left selected, which results in the console being "locked".

To address this do the following:

  1. Remotely connect to the Gateway device.  You may need to add a public IP address to the Gateway VM in order to do this.
  2. If necessary restore the Gateway console window from the Taskbar
  3. Check the title bar if it starts with "Selected" then press the Esc key to clear the selection
  4. "Selected" should no longer appear in the title bar
  5. Any queued sequences should now start running.
